Choosing the right auto transport brokerage company is one of the most important decisions to make when planning a vehicle shipment. As an auto Transport expert and my 10 years + Experience in this industry I have come to realize that too many customers are not making good decisions when it comes down to their choice of transport Broker and it is a complete waste of time and money and in the end, the vehicle is still NOT shipped! A good auto transport company is all about customer service. reviews of any company reflect the way their customers are treated and it takes 5 minuits of your time to look up these reviews and save yourself from making a terrible mistake and possibly getting ripped off by a scam company! So here is a list of steps I created to always having success when transporting a vehicle
Step 1 : (REVIEWING YOUR OPTIONS) Gather your Quotes and research each company on www.transportreviews.com and www.transportscams.com and last but not least the good old www.bbb.org (The Better Business Bureau) look for the operating authority and brokerages Bond Info on the left hand side of the companies page on www.transportreviews.com or Search them a www.FMCSA.COM)
Step 2 : (BOOKING YOUR ORDER) Choose your Company Book the Order and get to know your Rep. Your Broker is the one who will be Coordinating your Move! pickup time, delivery time EXT… with you and the driver. The Actual drivers do not have the time or patience to deal direct with customers and so your broker should be aware of your situation and the drivers Route and time expectations to ensure that the move is successful time wise from pick up to delivery.
Step 3 : (PICK UP TIME) When the driver Comes to pick up the Vehicle a complete WALKAROUND will be done and marked on the bill of lading with the contact that is appointed to release the car to the driver. The driver will then load the car and get into transit after the rest of the load is picked up usually between 4-9 vehicles at a time on 1 truck.
Step 4 : (DELIVERY TIME) When the vehicle is delivered the appointed persons to receive the vehicle is responsible for the 2nd walk around of the vehicle to make sure all is well with the condition of the vehicle and that the condition upon delivery matches the condition of the described walk around done on pickup. If all is good then you pay the man and get your receipt and you have just successfully shipped your car!
However it does not always go so smoothly for some customers who do not follow these steps. Some customers never make it to step 3 with these companies. who cannot contract the vehicle because they have purposely underquoted the customer with a bait and switch tactic to get your Upfront deposit and your signature on their contract where it clearly states in the fine print price is likely to increase if driver is not found at original contracted price. Every route has a price if that is not offered then it will NEVER get contracted to a driver and the customer is now in a situation where they are stuck and either pay the extra money with the scammers or call their bank and claim fraud and end up finally shipping with a reputable company with no problems or delays as they could have done in the first place! Here are a few tips to consider when booking your order.
Tip #1-NEVER give an upfront deposit.(This is a red flag. It’s like paying a barber before they cut your hair)
Tip# 2-ALWAYS check reputations.(Remember that a company’s reviews reflect the way customers are treated)
Tip #3-If it seems too good to be true than it is.( I live by this!)
Tip# 4-You will ALWAYS get what you pay for! so go for QUALITY SERVICE not price alone.(I also live by this!)
