  1. Jessica was very responsive and helpful. I was very disappointed that the actual cost came in at $4300 for my two vehicles while the Amerifreight qoute was about $3200. I feel like the company was not upfront and honest on the quote which led to me hitch my wagon with them. If it wasn’t for Jessica, I would rate as 2-3 stars due to the late pickup and misquote.

  2. I have never had a vehicle shipped before & didn’t have much of an idea of what to expect. I informed the amerifreight representative of this. I bought a vehicle for a restoration/project.
No one seemed to have a concrete idea what the wait would be. They said they would call me & let me know when they had a carrier. I called after approximately a week them to get the same information that they didn’t know when the estimated time would be, nor could they even give me an idea if I would be waiting weeks, months or indefinitely. This was due to the vehicle being inoperable, which was information I had given when filling out the form for my quote.
After the second week passed I called again & I am assuming out if frustration they called & had someone go get it for a much higher than quoted price. I was not calling to be a nuisance, but only to get information. I called after the initial set up twice both after waiting about a week & because I was not called when they said they would call me, which I waited two days after the day they said they’d call me before calling them.
The carrier that delivered the truck was very helpful & provided stellar service. I now have the truck, no harm no foul.
Knowing what I know now, I would rather pick the vehicle up myself & spend the extra money on the vehicle or parts for the restoration.

  3. I needed to have a vehicle transported for my elderly in-laws, who were returning from Arizona to Montana. AmeriFreight was a highly rated broker by the Better Business Bureau, so I selected them. The quote came soon enough, with an agent’s name on it. I completed the contract and selected a ten day time frame to have the vehicle picked up. I waited patiently, with no assurance from the agent that the vehicle would be picked up on time. I finally phoned the agent who explained that there were no trucks willing to take the vehicle at the quoted price. I made the mistake of assuming that the price I was quoted was a reasonable price. As a last resort, I contacted another agent at the same company and explained that I would pay whatever the prevailing rate was, as long as the vehicle was picked up on schedule. I paid over five hundred dollars more than the original quote, and the vehicle was not picked up on time. The delivery itself was fine, though. Perhaps I was not as demanding as I should have been, but I feel that AmeriFreight should have had better communication. My in-laws were forced to delay their trip. I will not recommend AmeriFreight.

  4. So I’ll start off by saying that my vehicle was delivered on time and in good order. The trucking company, JK Auto Transport, did a good job with communicating with me and working with my needs. The car arrived with lots of dirt around it, but that is to be expected as it was a cross-country drive in an open carrier. They did door to door delivery and called me 30 minutes before arriving to pick up the vehicle and 30 minutes prior to drop off.

While I am happy with the delivery of the vehicle, getting it to that stage was not so fun. I chose this company based on the positive reviews, but I did not have the same experience as everyone else. First, I filled out their online form to get a quote. When I got the quote, in the email it said that the agent on there would contact me within 24 hours. I had to call him after two days because I heard nothing back. Second, when I did call I was quoted a price of ~1000, which seemed a bit low, but I was okay with going up to 200-300 more to get my car shipped. Jorge and I agreed that that was okay. I said the vehicle would be available for pickup by Saturday when we talked on Tuesday.

A few day passes with no communication, so I emailed Jorge only to get an automated reply saying he would be out of town for the next two weeks. I then went into super panic mode because 1) he was supposed to be getting my car shipped and 2) I had lost about 5 days waiting around for him to do this. So I called and asked what was going on, only to find out that someone else would be taking care of my order while he’s out of town. You’d think that in the previous 5 days, Jorge would have mentioned this. I would be okay with it, people have travel plans, I understand that, but to leave your customers in the dark about it is terrible.

As is the usual, I hear nothing for 4 more days until I get an email saying they’ve found a carrier and I need to call them ASAP. I called and that was when I learned the price had jumped up to 1450, which was much higher than the original quote and the quote+a buffer. I asked why this was so and was told that no company would do it for less. Given that this is their business, they should have been able to give me a more accurate quote instead of giving me a low price to lure me in and then do a bait and switch when I had no basically had no more options.

In the end, I would have been perfectly happy if they had just been upfront with me about everything. I would have been okay being passed to another agent to handle the shipping. I would have been okay with a higher price, had that been the price presented to me originally. But what I got was just bad customer service. I do have to say that the lady who helped me in the end was great and was very communicative about the steps that I had to take. If she was my agent from the beginning, maybe this review would be different.

  5. Please do not use this company. It was imperative that I received my car by 4/26 as I was moving states and it was thus written into my contract. If they couldn’t deliver by the 26th I needed to switch my order and have the car shipped elsewhere. The car was picked up on the 24th and on the 26th I was informed my vehicle wouldn’t be arriving until the 28th. I was simply informed that their carrier was breaking their contract but the carrier forwarded me their contract and nowhere in it did it say it needed to be delivered by the 26th so the fault is most definitely Amerifreights. Amerifreight pretty much told me oh well and that these things happen….really helpful. As a result my husband had to rent a car to move states and I’m now waiting in the old state missing days of work in the new state. Thanks Amerifreight.

  6. I am annoyed to even have to write this review. Basically, I am active duty military, on my way out to a one year deployment and I was in need of car shipping services. I confirmed my order on January 20 with Jessica, for my first available date for pick-up on February 23rd and last day March 1st, as I was only in the area during those specific dates. I understand the whole of idea of AmeriFreight not being able to guarantee a date that a carrier would be able to pick up my vehicle. Cool. So I didn’t hear anything after a few days (5 days or so) into my window so I contacted AmeriFreight to see what was going on. George gave me the spiel about how South Dakota to Ohio is not a heavily travelled route, and I totally got that. I was contacted the very next day that I called, on February 28th and was told that a carrier had been found, and they could pick out the day that I was scheduled to fly out, but they wanted 1,000 verses the initial 795 that I was quoted. Ok, cool again, I was flying out in two days and I really didn’t have any other options. So, I agreed to the 1,000 charge from the carrier and AmeriFreight took $250 out of my account for their service fee. But now, since I would be on my flight when the “driver” was supposed to be picking up my vehicle, I had to ask someone to take off of work in order to see to it that my vehicle made it onto the carriers truck, to basically act as my agent. I was given the carriers name and phone number and began thereafter speaking directly with him. Both myself and the person acting as my agent were assured that my vehicle would be picked up that Sunday. I had contact with the carrier on that Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Saturday rolled around and NOTHING. The carrier would not answer my calls or text messages anymore. We (my friend and I) both tried from different phone numbers, left messages, to no avail. By this point, THANKFULLY, my flight was cancelled due to bad weather in my layover location. By this time, it is Sunday, and I am livid. My flight was changed to Monday afternoon, so the first thing Monday morning, I called AmeriFreight and told them what was going on. After some digging around on their part, they were able to find out that the carrier had no intention of picking up my vehicle due to some asinine reason. I was then told that even though they could not do it, AmeriFreight was able to miraculously find another carrier that would do it for the same price the very next day (Tuesday, March 3).

I could not risk having someone else take off of work again and not have my car picked up, so I told Jessica to just cancel the entire order, and that I would figure something else out. To which she replied that she would cancel the order, and I received that confirmation via e-mail on March 3, 2014 at 1:34pm. I read very well, and I understand that refunds from AmeriFreight can take a million years (read 30-60 days). I received a phone call from a woman from AmeriFreight on March 21st inquiring if I still needed my vehicle moved, to which I told her that no, I did not, and that my order was canceled through Jessica, and that I was currently awaiting my $250 refund, for which I gave AmeriFreight and had received no services. The unidentified woman then told me that she would “look into it” for me, and send me an e-mail with her findings. I let two weeks go by, and NOTHING. I then sent Jessica an e-mail on April 3rd, more than one month after my order was confirmed to have been cancelled. I told her what had transpired on the 21st. She was quick with her response to my message and replied the very next morning: “It usually takes about 30-60 days for a refund. I will forward your message to her. Please let me know if there’s anything else that I can do.” Fast forward to April 29th. I STILL have not heard anything back from either Jessica nor this imaginary woman that was supposed to had contacted me a month prior.

So, again, I sent an e-mail to Jessica, inquiring about my refund. I RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. I was never disrespectful, and I have tried to be patient. But now, the whole 30-60 days ridiculous refund period has expired (I am now on day 63) and I am to the point that I will just contact my bank and report that charge as a fraud, since no one wants to acknowledge the fact that AmeriFreight has $250 from someone which they did not provide ANY services. And furthermore, to have to deal with this crap while preparing for a deployment is absolutely ridiculous. I called AmeriFreight today, because I am simply fed up with being ignored and the run-around about my refund and left a message with apparently the only person that works for that company that can provide me information about my refund. Maybe, just maybe, I will get a response and some actual ACTION since this review will be open to the public!

UPDATE: After I submitted my review yesterday, within about 2-3 hours, I was provided a response via the site acknowledging my ordeal and I was assured that I would receive a response within 48 hours. I was then contacted around 7:30am this morning via telephone by Sondee Fong, the Finance & Operations Manager for AmeriFreight. Ms. Fong was VERY apologetic regarding my ordeal and informed me that I would immediately be refunded the money owed to me. She even went as far as to further compensate me for the mess up on their part. I hate that it had to come to my writing a bad review about a company, in order to get my money back, but I was frustrated. I cannot whether or not I would ever work with AmeriFreight again, as I may in the future, but I am very appreciative of the quick response after my issue was made visible to the one(s) who could provide some action, and AmeriFreight’s attempts to make it right and offer me compensation for the trouble will not go unnoticed. The apologies seemed genuine and a majority of their reviews are great, so maybe my experience was just a fluke, who is to say.

  7. Still waiting for Amerifreight to let me know if my Vehicle will be shipped — I will never use this company again – already I was told the price I was Quoted was to low . I have no issue paying More – Justin ( 877-608-0557- keeps telling me no problem I still have one day left for pick Up- ??? Now I.m left with no recourse but to go to Car Max and sell my vehicle . I have to leave across country in two days. Amerifreight is running a scam.

  8. I would never, never do business with these people again.

I was sent a quote saying that they could pick up my vehicle at the pickup location and deliver it to my new address for less than 900.00. I called the company and spoke with David and he stated that this wouldn’t be a problem so I gave him my credit card information and was told that my car would be picked up within the next 15 days. David stated that he would get a driver for me within the next “couple of days”. Not hearing from David for a few days I called him 3 or so days after our conversation and asked what the status was. He said he would be calling me later that day or the day after. I decided to let him do his job and leave him alone.

14 days from the day of original contact pass and, after using my boyfriends mother’s car for 2 weeks which wasn’t making either of us happy, I contacted David again. The first thing he says to me is “Oh, yeah … we were going to call you. Where is ________?” I sat there for a moment in total shock. Two weeks after I’d given this company my payment information they were asking me WHERE in the state of Minnesota was the pickup city that I’d given them. After I explained to him that NO my city was NOT in Canada, and was indeed a city in Minnesota, he promises he will call me back.

A few hours later I get a call from him stating that he found a shipper but the cost would now not be just under 900. It would be 1450.00 and I would have to drive my car the 4 hours south to Minneapolis…. and it would have to be in Minneapolis by the next day. A bit shocked, but without any other options and needing my vehicle, I scramble to find someone to drive my car the 8 hour round trip to drop it off in the shippers car lot. In the end I found out that my car DIDN’T need to be there that weekend, in fact it sat in that car lot for almost exactly one week, in a less than desirable location.

Honestly, I’m so exhausted by this whole situation that I can’t even continue to tell you all of the rest of the mess that this company made. The only reason I’m even writing this review is that if I don’t they will charge my credit card for ANOTHER 50.00 per the contract that I signed.

    Summary:

    Quote: <900.00 Paid: 1350.00
Promised: Door to Door delivery Given: Not even close
Customer Service Pros: They will answer their phones IF you call them repeatedly and leave messages telling them that you'll continue to call until you get an answer.
Customer Service Cons: They will lie to you and blame it on everyone else.

The only other good thing I can say about this whole situation is that they are paid, and I am finally done with them after this review. Save yourself the headache – pay a better price from the beginning for a real company with honest people.

  9. The car took a full 27 days to get a bid and get here to Texas from California. The first transporter couldn’t start the car nor could he jump start it, even though it had a new battery. Then he slammed the hood shut and damaged the hood latch, left the keys in the ignition, left the window down so it got rained in. Left the car in a public place. The owner couldn’t be present at the time of pick-up but made arrangements with the transporter. Finally, after complaining they found another transporter that cost $200 more. AmeriFreight said “sorry”. No discount, no nothing. Of course they charged my CC ASAP.

  10. When I contacted Ameri Freight about bringing my car from California to Tennessee I spent a lot of time explaining to the Ameri Freight representative, Lecia, the exact circumstances surrounding this car. I told her it must be in an enclosed carrier and that it was a very expensive show car. She told me she would put it on the board for the price we agreed on which was not cheap to say the least. She called me back and said they had a carrier that would do an excellent job and had a 100 out of 100 rating. Maybe it is my fault for making the assumption that she knew this delivery company and had first hand experience with them. I feel certain that she had no knowledge at all about the company or the driver that delivered my car. If she did and these people have a 100 out of 100 rating then the car delivery business is in a pretty sad state. I have listed below all of my complaints.

I was led to believe that when the car was picked up I would be notified by the driver. I never heard anything from the driver. The seller in California did call me saying the car had been picked up and even sent me pictures showing it being loaded.

I wasn’t in a big hurry for the car to arrive so I didn’t worry when I still had not heard anything five days later. I had the drivers phone number from where he called me before he ever picked the car up saying he couldn’t get hold of the person in California to arrange the pick up. It was because he was calling the wrong phone number. I don’t know how this happened because the phone number written on the e-mailed copied I received from Ameri Freight was correct. Any way I decided to shoot the driver a text on the evening of day six which was a Friday. He said he was in Memphis Tennessee and it looked like it would be Monday or Tuesday for the delivery. I told him that would be fine and to just let me know for sure when he knew for sure. When I had not heard any thing back from him late on Tuesday I sent a text asking if he had any updates on the delivery time. His response was “In Memphis now will plan on seeing you either late Wednesday or early Thursday”. I don’t know what happened to the delivery on Monday or Tuesday or even ask him why he was still in Memphis several days after he said he was leaving Memphis. I wasn’t in a hurry so I still wasn’t worried about anything.

The text I got was on Wednesday at 7:17 p.m. said was “See you tomorrow at 1 is that ok”. My exact response was “Yes, I will have to leave work to meet you so as you get closer let me know. I will plan to meet you at 1:00 unless I hear any different”. His response was “No problem everybody loves the car by the way. This comment sent a red flag to me. I wondered who was “everybody” and how could they see a car in an enclosed trailer. I sent back this question. Has the car been on the truck the entire time or have you had to load and unload it as you made your way across the country. His response “Hasn’t moved since California”.

The next time I heard from the driver was at 12:07 p.m. on Thursday and he was confirming the address he was suppossed to drop the car off at. I confirmed that the address was correct and since it was 45 minutes before we were supposed to meet I assumed that by him asking this he was close. His reply text was “passing Lebanon Tennessee now so 2.5 hours away. I replied with “I thought we were meeting at 1:00” His reply was “Yes sir moving as fast as we can”. This is fine but I wonder when he was going to let me know that the time had been changed from 1:00 to 3:30. The answer is that he wasn’t going to. I would have left work and went to the meeting place only to find out then that he was going to be 2 1/2 hours late.

The next text I got was at 2:34 saying he was in a traffic jam and would be later than previously stated. The next time I heard from him was at 3:40 and his question was “If you don’t mind me asking how much did this car cost?” I asked why and he said “I figured it was very expensive build probably one of the sharpest restorations I have seen in all my years of moving these cars” I told him that yes it was a very high quality build. He said I was very impressed with the quality of the finish. Remember this comment for later when I tell you how he handled this quality of finish that he was so impressed with.

He finally got close to the meeting place and sent me a text that said “It’s a red and black Peterbilt”. Now I was really concerned because the carrier it left California was a white trailer. I didn’t say anything I just figured I would find out was was up when we met for the drop off.

He gets to the drop off and this guy can’t speak one word of English. Through his hand gestures and pointing I finally figured out that he didn’t want to drop the car off here but wanted to go to the Home Depot parking lot about a mile down the street. I tried to talk to him but it was a waste of my time so I just got in my car and drove to the Home Depot. Please understand that I have no idea why he didn’t want to drop the car off at my storage facility. This place has trailers with cars coming and going everyday so it has plenty of room.

As if all this hadn’t been enough it was at this time I realized the car wasn’t enclosed. It was in a trailer that had canvas sides and a top with no back on it and my car had the last five feet hanging out the back of it. I was pissed off at a level that I have never known before and the only guy I have to ask questions doesn’t speak the language of this country. The car was on an entirely different trailer than what it left California in and I knew at this point I had been lied to about every detail of this trip from the time it began.

The finish that he thought was so great didn’t keep him from sliding his rivet laced blue jeans all up and down the drivers side door and quarter panel as he climbed into the car to drive it off the trailer. The piece of crap wrecked car, that appeared to have been a totaled car, he was hauling on the rack above my car had leaked oil onto the roof and my car had what appeared to be bird shit all over it. On top of all this the key had been left on and both batteries were drained which caused plenty of havoc on the computer and air ride system.

I don’t really know how much of this fiasco is to be blamed on Ameri Freight and the company that actually did the delivering but I feel like they are both equally to be blamed. I will never use either company again for anything. By the way the name of the actual company that did the delivery was Gorban Transportation out of Chesterfield MO.
