Carriers vs.Brokers

Carriers vs.Brokers

There are a lot of advantages of shipping your car with a broker rather than hiring a carrier directly. For starters, when you ship your vehicle with a carrier you are depending on that carrier’s fleet of trucks to pick up your vehicle. If the truck that is picking up your vehicle breaks down you have to wait until it gets fixed or another truck is available. Whereas if you ship with a broker, they have a unlimited carriers available to pick up your vehicle if the ball happens to drop. In addition, if the brokerage your dealing with has good reputation, chances are the have good relationships with several carriers. Most of the times brokers already know what carrier to call for a specific route.

It is a brokers responsibility to make sure that the carrier they contract for you has their insurance and license up to date.  Some brokerages even perform rigorous background checks on carriers.  They want your car to be in the hands of a legitimate and safe driver. When dealing with a carrier directly, they sometimes hire independent drivers. Those drivers may have their insurance lapsed and/or licenses suspended.

With a broker, you have the benefit of staying in the loop through out the whole time of transport. They keep you up informed of what’s going on with your shipment. When dealing with a carrier, its really hard to get in touch with the driver. They are usually on the road driving and busy. Also the dispatcher at the office may be to busy to answer your call promptly. Brokers provide great customer service and will always be there to answer your questions.

At times,  a carrier will  ship your vehicle terminal to terminal. Meaning your car is dropped of at a terminal while the driver waits until there are more cars going to your area where you are going. This is a inconvenience since this process could take weeks. A broker always makes sure your car gets shipped door to door with the same driver. They want your shipping experience to  be a pleasant one.
