How to choose a auto transport broker ?

How to choose a auto transport broker ?

When trying to decide which auto transport broker you should go with keep a couple things in mind:

  • Never choose a car transport broker that requests a deposit up front, a lot of vehicle transport companies will ask for a deposit up front that will range from $100-$300. Transporters will use terms like ” if you want the carriers to take us serious you must show some sort of commitment” or they will tell you that they don’t charge anything until they secure a driver, or dispatch a driver, but really nobody really knows if there telling the truth. Even if they say we will have the driver give you a call, that call usually comes from a friend in the office or another co-worker. They do this to remove you off the transport market, in hopes that you will NOT book with any other auto transport broker. Any auto transport broker that requests money before they pick up the vehicle, simply put is usually a scam company and is up to no good. Once they receive that deposit they will put you to the side, NOT answer your calls and hope you cancel, because remember that deposit you leave is there broker fee, regardless if you ship the car or NOT that is there fee for helping you find a carrier. There contract will state it is NON-refundable and if it says it is there is a fee for canceling. That fee is usually half the brokers deposit, sometimes even higher. So to reiterate on what was just talked about, DO NOT pay anything until your vehicle is PICKED UP or DELILVERED. No Exceptions. Don’t be a Victim of auto transport scammers.

  • FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) all auto transport brokers must have a Active MC-Number give out by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Ask them for there MC-number and you can check to see if its active at this website: http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_carrlist

  • Insure that the auto transport broker has a legitimate business, see how long they have been in business and if they have any references.

  • Also check them out on the Better Business Bureau http://www.bbb.org/us/Find-Business-Reviews/ Note, if they have a rating of a C or lower a flag should be raised. There are plenty of auto transport brokers that have an (A rating), you don’t have to settle for lower, there is a reason they have a lower rating!

  • Check them out on Transport Reviews http://transportreviews.com/ . Auto transport broker should have a minimum of an 5 Star rating, anything less Do Not use, there are way to many that have a 5 Star rating. Also read there reviews, listen to what previous customers have to say about there experience, it could really help you make your choice.

If you follow these simple steps when choosing a transport broker your auto shipping will go a lot smoother, and the odds of you being scammed or lied to will drop 95%. Scammers will always try anything to get you to listen and believe them, but facts don’t lie, and if you follow these simple steps all the facts will be reveled.
