How to Choose an Auto Transport Broker

How to Choose an Auto Transport Broker

The key to choosing a honest and reliable auto transport broker is as follows:

1. Make sure they have a B- rating or higher on the Better Business Bureau ( http://www.bbb.org/ ), majority of the car transporters will NOT have that high of a rating, so when you find an auto transport broker that does that usually means they have worked hard to earn that score.

2. Always check the auto transport broker out on ( http://transportreviews.com/company/ ), they MUST have a five star rating or higher, do NOT settle for a company that has a 4 Star, there’s to many companies that have a 5 star rating to settle for less. Plus any reputable company will always keep there rating a five star. As long as the transport broker is honest, and reliable it shouldn’t be hard to keep a 5 star.

3. Only choose a auto shipping broker that does NOT charge anything up front, majority of the car transport brokers will ask for a deposit when your booking the order, this should send up a huge red flag, DO NOT give any auto transport company a deposit up front. What we recommend is once the vehicle has been picked up, then allow them to charge your credit card a small deposit, somewhere between $100-$550 just depending on the route and which carrier the auto transport broker chooses. Note: Beware of the auto transport scammers, they will use a flurry of comforting words, like we will not charge your card until we dispatch the vehicle, or until we secure a driver. Don’t fall for it, those words are just a ploy to get you too leave a deposit, come on, who is to say when they really dispatch it, or secure a driver? Just stick to this rule, do not leave a deposit until the vehicle is on the carrier, and it has been picked up, period.

4. Auto transport brokers will use the phrase; ” Guarantee or we promise “, one thing that is for sure, in this industry (Auto Transport ) there are NO guarantees, nothing is for sure. Once the vehicle is dispatched to an auto carrier, it is out of the auto transport brokers hands, it is all up to the auto transport carrier to full fill those guarantees, and they are human, unfortunately things happen that the auto carrier can’t control, for example: The carrier might call you and say we will be there in two days for pick up or delivery, and they are sincere by telling you, they want to keep you happy, but maybe as there driving to pick your auto up, they get stopped at a weight station, or they get to one of there delivers and the dealership who is receiving the car does not have there payment ready, so they might be delayed a couple of days, pushing your pick up back a few days. Just remember there are NO guarantees in the auto transport world, none. So stay clear of any brokers that guarantee anything, the truth is not even the price is guaranteed, if gas goes up $1.00 tomorrow, they will not pay the increase, it will be passed along to the consumer, and you will have to pay. Even if you have a contract, that means nothing, almost all contracts state price is subject to change, and the consumer is responsible for it.

5. Make sure to choose a company that has been in business for at least 1 year or more, that way you know what they have done in the past and they have some type of track record. You can all so check them out at: ( http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_html.prc_limain), ask them for there MC# and enter it in there, then you will see how long they have been in business and if there license is ACTIVE or not.

Follow these five simple steps and your car shipping process will go a lot smoother, and the chance of falling victim to a transport scam will decrease 1000%, please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns.
